About Ian

How It All Started

Ian Goldsmith believes that having fun is serious business. He “accidentally” got his start DJing in college after co-creating a viral internet dance and subsequently co-hosting dance parties for 500+ students by his senior year.

More Rewarding Than Ever!

Now nearly 10 years since DJing his first wedding, Ian finds working with couples and helping others have fun is more rewarding than ever!

Comedy Background Helps Improvise The Unexpected!

Working in the entertainment industry as a comedic performer and writer, Ian takes a “people-first” approach to DJing, striving to get to know each couple well in order to best understand how to entertain their family and friends. He also believes that the best DJs know how to find balance and go beyond the music—hosting the event as a professional and polished emcee, while also knowing how to bring the heat when it’s time to party. Planning for everything but ready to improvise around the unexpected, Ian is looking forward to helping you throw your ideal party!

Favorite Wedding Moment Ever!

A few years ago, I played "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC. Naturally, I was air-guitaring behind the DJ booth. The mother of the bride marched over to me at the booth—I thought she was upset. She then pointed right at me, and that's when I realized: she was challenging me to an air-guitar battle. The two of us battled it out on the dance floor with all the guests cheering, much to the simultaneous delight and embarrassment of the bride.

Ian’s Favorite Part Of A Wedding…

I enjoy a lot of moments, but I'm particularly fond of the end of the night—NOT because it's over, but because it's one final blissful moment of love and fun and joy between the couple and all their friends and family. It's a climatic "we did it!"

RAPID FIRE QUESTIONS…

  1. If you were attending a wedding as a guest, what's your "go to" dance move on the dance floor? A tie between "tasteful hip thrusting" and "a perfectly-placed shimmy." Also, if the "Wobble" is playing, LOOK OUT.

  2. What's your spirit animal? Cockatoo

  3. Beach or Mountains? I'm more of a mountain person in my personality, but I spend more time at the beach.

  4. What did you have for breakfast? Greek yogurt with blueberries and granola. AND COFFEE. ALL THE COFFEE.

  5. What's the last exercise thing you did? Planking (the exercise, not the viral joke trend from the early 2010s)

BUT SERIOUSLY THOUGH…

What's one tip you'd give a couple planning their wedding?

The only "right way" to do something for your wedding is the way you want it to be done. :)

We cannot say enough about the amazing experience we had with Nice Entertainment. Hans was the first person to contact us regarding our expectations in finding the right DJ from his team to match us. We were matched with Ian and he was extremely flexible and understanding with scheduling calls to meet and discuss all of the details of the wedding planning and playlist. Nice Entertainment also has a client portal that allows you to select songs for a “Must Play” “Play If You Can” “Only Play If Requested” and “Do Not Play” that allow for customization so you don’t have to hear those pesky, corny songs on your special day. Ian worked well with the rest of our vendors and planners in order to coordinate all of the day-of set-up and audio. He also listened to all of our requests regarding energy of the party beforehand and was even willing to give great suggestions of flow. His energy was incredible throughout the entire reception keeping the dance floor full of people the whole time. We also sprung for the DJ Photo Booth which allowed our guests to enjoy themselves taking photos and us to see them later in gif form afterward. We would definitely recommend Nice Entertainment to anyone, specifically in the Atlanta area, who want a professional experience with personable employees who just look to make sure the clients have the time of their lives, for a very affordable price point, in which they have multiple tier options. You can’t go wrong with booking with Nice!
