3 Interesting Wedding Trends for 2016

Well, folks, 2016 is here and with it comes a fresh year to set some trends in the wedding industry. From food to dress to music, this year is sure to carry with it some creative ways to celebrate the union of two.

To make it easy on you, we have pulled together three trends that we think are especially cool and that we’d like to see at the next wedding we DJ in Atlanta or Charleston.

Brunch Weddings

Yes, you read that correctly: brunch weddings. Who said weddings have to revolve around dinner? Maybe the bride and groom met over brunch, or maybe they both just really love the hybrid meal. Any way you slice it, brunch is pretty awesome and we’d love to see some more late-morning weddings.

From omelettes and waffles to a “make your own” bloody Mary bar, a brunch-centered wedding could be a lot of fun… and maybe a bit less expensive than dinner. An after-brunch cocktail hour could help continue the party, and if it’s an outside wedding, you’d have the whole day to enjoy the weather and your friends.

Our recommendation: stock plenty of mimosas.

Different Music Options

Music is essential to a wedding and even more so for a fun reception. But, maybe you don’t want a wedding DJ for your whole evening, or maybe hiring a full band can get a bit pricey. A solution is to seek out a vendor who can provide both.

According to Antonia Christianson in a recent Huffington Post article, “Couples are viewing each aspect of their wedding celebration as an opportunity to bring in different entertainment options.”

So, don’t pick between live music and a DJ -- do both! Imagine a smooth saxophone player during cocktail hour and when the dance floor is getting hot, a DJ who can keep it going. For instance, the live band and DJ mix is a part of Nice Entertainment’s Mansion Package and is a wonderful addition to any wedding celebration.

GoPro Weddings

GoPros have been famous for capturing a snowboarder’s “sick” run down a snowy slope or a skydiver’s jump from 15,000 feet, but in 2016 we can expect this technology to become the norm in documenting weddings from a unique perspective.

Imagine seeing the dance floor from the perspective of your flower girl or recording the ceremony from a couple unique angles that videographers would otherwise not be able to get to. GoPros can even be attached to a drone that can provide aerial views of your wedding. At Nice Entertainment, we can help record your wedding from any angle.

If you’re planning on getting married this year, give us a shout. We would love to help you plan your wedding and take some of the stress off you so you can set your own wedding trends in 2016.
