It’s officially summer in the South and it’s only going to get hotter as we move into July and August. While the summer months are not, compared to the spring and fall, the most popular times to get married, it can be a totally cool wedding - literally.
One of the biggest issues (if not the biggest) with summer weddings is keeping your guests cool while still enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. It may not seem like an easy task, but it’s not impossible if you take a few precautions and think about it smartly. Well, we’re here to help. We’ve combed the web and found a few awesome ideas to make sure your guests stay cool at your summer wedding.
Fans Fans Fans
From big misting fans to handheld fans to small desk fans, there’s no overdoing it with keeping the breeze going. If you have an outdoor ceremony, think about doubling down and turning your program into a personal fan. It’s super Southern for everyone to fan themselves and it’s totally functional.
If you’re looking for a “cooler” approach, think about renting misting fans and putting them strategically around the event grounds. It may cost a few extra bucks but it will be absolutely worth it.
Pro tip: make sure if you go with the big fans that they’re quiet so they don’t bother the ceremony.
Keep the Drinks Cold, Available, and Flowing
If temperatures start pushing three digits, then it’s super important to keep your guests hydrated and refreshed. A good idea is to have super cold lemonade, tea, and water in a couple different areas of the venue so people don’t have to wander around for it. These stations or coolers should also be up and going at all times.
Also, think about putting an iced bucket full of water bottles at the end of each row, just in case someone needs a cold drink.
Pro tip: iced coffee.
Throw Shade at Your Guests
The best way to avoid having your guests overheating is to provide them a little bit of shade, especially in the afternoon. The good news is you have a few options when it comes to how you want to go about this. One of the most effective ways to do this is to erect a big tent or tents around the venue. Think over the ceremony, dining, and dance floor areas.
If you don’t have the space or resources to make a big tent happen, then think about putting out a bunch of cool-looking umbrellas. Not only will it keep the sun off of your guests’ backs, but it is also a pretty cool conversation piece, especially if umbrellas look great.
Summer weddings can be great, so don’t shy away from booking one. One thing that needs to stay heated up is the dance floor. At Nice Entertainment, we can help make that happen. Drop us a line for more information or to chat about keeping your event cool this summer.
