Traveling is exciting and challenging way to broaden your perspective on the globe we all share. It’s also a great way to strengthen a newly-bonded relationship, which is why most couples choose to take off on an adventure soon after tying the knot.
While some people are content laying on a tropical beach for a week, sipping cold drinks in pineapple shells (which, by the way, sound AWESOME to us), some couples opt for a more adventurous experience.
We’ve talked about a couple different honeymoon excursions for newlyweds in our previous blog, but we figured we’d continue on the path to inspiring a couple to take the adventurous trip. So without further ado, here are two more honeymoon ideas for the adventurous couple.
Southeast Asia
From Thailand to Vietnam to the Philippines, Southeast Asia offers travelers beautiful scenery, incredible food, and affordable excursions. You can soak up history at hidden temples, get a tan on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and even spend time in some of the busiest and modern cities in either hemisphere.
There are a ton of ways to experience Southeast Asia, so you can customize your trip to your interests and time. Sure, there are a couple of drawbacks: the travel time over there and it can be a bit intimidating for those who haven’t been, but the rewards dramatically outweigh the negatives.
Pro tip: stay awhile. This isn’t a four or five day trip, so put some time aside to really get to know the area.
South Africa
Can you say swimming with Great White Sharks? Getting in a cage and jumping into the icy waters off the coast of South Africa to come face-to-face with the apex predators top many people’s “bucket list,” and for good reason. But South Africa is way more than just giant sharks.
The country plays host to some of the best vineyards in the world and some of the most jaw-dropping scenery around. Much like Southeast Asia, South Africa can give you exactly what you’re looking for in a honeymoon: beautiful beaches by way of Cape Town; incredible national parks like Kruger National Park where you can see some of Africa’s famous wildlife; and internationally-influenced cuisine in a modern setting.
Pro tip: Atlanta to Johannesburg is one of the world’s longest direct flights, so bring a book and a sleeping mask. But, it’s totally worth it.
