It’s 2018 and it’s FREEZING all along the East Coast. I mean, it literally snowed in Florida. So, you know what that means? It’s time to look ahead to warmer weather and wedding season! And with any new year comes new trends, so we’ve scoured the web to find the best wedding trends of 2018 just for you.
Here’s what you can expect this year:
Emphasis on the After-Party
Listen, the ceremony and reception are mainstays when it comes to weddings and we don’t see that changing. But, expect to see a more formal after-party come together way before the big day. Weddings are supposed to be a party with your closest people, so why would you want that party to stop when the venue closes? You wouldn’t, so keep it going until the wee hours of the morning!
Flowers have long been a part of a beautiful wedding, but this year is the year to really amp it up. From hanging flowers to potted plants, expect a slight twist on the traditional with the floral arrangements in 2018. We can totally get down with this trend and can’t wait to see how creative couples gets this year.
Ever wanted to get married in a cool lounge? Well this is your year. Custom neon lights are trendy this year and we see why. They’re super photogenic, provide fun light, and can make your venue seem a little more intimate and less, well, stiff. Maybe just don’t over do it.
Great wedding food is becoming more and more important to couples and that trend won’t die. In 2018, expect to see less “traditional” three-course meals and more internationally-influenced food: South American (ceviche, anyone?), Mexican, Asian, and more. We’d love to see an Ethiopian dish at the next wedding we DJ!
Smaller and Smaller
Today’s couples are still into making the wedding day a memorable and fun event, but it seems guests lists are shrinking and weddings and receptions are becoming more and more intimate. Not really done in an effort to save some cash, but to really amp up the personal nature of love and sharing that love.
